Kathmandu: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana Sunday has reconstituted the Constitutional Bench on the basis of seniority. Rana has included judges Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, and Ananda Mohan Bhattarai on the Constitutional Bench to hear the House dissolution case.
Judges Hari Krishna Karki and Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha should have been included on the bench. However, Karki had already separated himself from the hearing against the House dissolution case and Shrestha is not well. That’s why CJ Rana has included Khatiwada and Bhattarai.
After the House dissolution on May 21 at midnight, 146 lawmakers of the opposition alliance filed 30 writ petitions against the move. The first hearing could not take place at the predetermined time on May 28 given the disputes regarding the judges.
