Three-member committee formed to probe Mugu bus accident

Kathmandu: A three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the Mugu road accident that killed 32 people and left 13 injured on Tuesday.

The Karnali Province Police Office has formed the committee led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Bir Bishwakarma to probe into the accident.

On Tuesday, the bus, Bhe 1 Kha 3167, was heading to district headquarters Gamgadhi from Nepalgunj when it met with an accident at Chhayanath Rara Municipality-7 in Mugu district.

The committee will submit its report to the Karnali Province Police Office within 10 days.

According to the Karnali Province Police Office, 24 people were killed on the spot, while four others die while being taken to Nepalgunj for treatment. Likewise, four passengers injured in the mishap breathed last at Nepalgunj Nursing Home.

A preliminary police investigation found that the bus plunged some 500 meters from the road after its front tyre got punctured.
