Kathmandu: A plan belonging to Sita Air hit a wild boar on the runway while taking off from Nepalgunj Airport to Simkot, Humla on Tuesday morning.

Airport Chief Subash Jha informed that the plane with 17 passengers aboard was about to take off at 7 am as a wild boar scampered on the runway, colliding with wheels.

All passengers along with crew members are safe. After the pilot felt something wrong on wheels as the plane was about to take off, he stopped it and found a wild boar torn apart on the runway.

As the tire on the front wheel was pierced, the plane has been kept out of the runway.

The airport was closed for a while to remove the shreds.
