Snowfall forecast in high mountainous region due to influence of Westerly trough

Kathmandu: Snowfall has been forecast in high mountainous in the country for the next three days due to the influence of Westerly trough and the low-pressure system formed at the Arabian Sea.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there is presently generally to mostly cloudy in Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and partly to generally cloudy in rest of the Provinces.

Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places of Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province.

Similarly, there are chances of light to moderate snowfall at a few places of the western high mountainous region.
Likewise, tonight there will be generally to mostly cloudy in Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and will be partly to generally cloudy in rest of the Provinces. Light rain is likely to occur at a few places of Gandaki Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province. Light to moderate snowfall is likely at a few places of the western high mountainous region.

Due to this, the temperature is likely to further drop, having an impact on people’s daily life including in mountaineering, aviation and transport sectors.

The latest details of the Division showed that today’s minimum temperature of the Kathmandu Valley was 6.3 degree Celsius today and the maximum temperature was 21.0 degree Celsius. Similarly, Jumla reported the lowest -2.0 degree Celsius while Bhairahawa recorded the highest 30.0 degree Celsius across the country today.
