Ruling coalition forms electoral alliance for National Assembly polls

Kathmandu: The ruling coalition has decided to form an electoral alliance for the National Assembly elections.

A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling alliance held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Monday decided to field a common candidate in eight seats won previously by CPN-UML.

Vice-Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Durga Poudel said that Nepali Congress will field candidates for three seats, Janata Samajwadi Party two seats and CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha for one seat each.

The leaders also agreed to field their own candidates in seats own earlier by the respective parties. As per the agreement, CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) will get four seats each and NC three seats.

The by-elections to elect 19 members of the upper house is slated for January 26. As per the election schedule, nominations for candidacies will be filed on Tuesday.
