Kathmandu: Two persons were killed in a road accident in Ilam district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Thapa, 55, and Surya Bahadur Thapa, 40, of Mechinagar municipality-4 in the district, said Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Thapa.
The accident took place when a jeep, Province1-01-001 Cha 7916, heading towards Ilam from Jhapa fell some 500 meters off the road at Rong rural municipality-4 along Mechi highway. Both of them died on the spot in the accident.
The jeep driver Arjun Koirala, 33, of Mechinagar-4 was critically injured in the incident. He has been taken to B&C Hospital, Jhapa, for treatment. Further investigation into the case was underway, added police.
