Kathmandu: Nepal Chamber of Commerce has requested Gyan Chandra Acharya, newly-appointed Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, to play a role to facilitate trade and promote exports between the two countries.

Although the diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom have crossed 200 years-mark, the economic and trade relations between the two nations have not flourished as expected, according to NCC.

To improve the trade relations between the two nations, there should be diplomatic efforts from the newly-appointed ambassador, says the NCC in its statement.

According to Rajendra Malla, president of NCC, Nepal has a huge potential to export jewelleries, clothing items, among others, to the UK.

“After Brexit, Nepal should have separate trade relations with the UK,” said Gyan Chandra Acharya. He further added that he would make efforts for establishing new trade relations with the UK.
