Kathmandu: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has urged China to expedite projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

According to Chief of UML’s Foreign Department Rajan Bhattarai, Oli made the request during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday morning.

“All issues of mutual interest between Nepal and China were discussed,” Bhattarai told journalists after emerging from the meeting. “Chairman Oli emphasized advancing and accelerating projects under BRI.”

During the meeting, Oli also requested the Chinese Minister to facilitate the smooth operation of border points and create an environment for Nepali students who returned from China due to the pandemic to complete their studies.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said he was committed to expediting Chinese-funded projects, according to Bhattarai.
