Kathmandu: Independent candidate Balen Shah has widened his lead in the race for Kathmandu Mayor as more votes cast in the local-level elections are counted.

As per the latest update, Shah has received 2,071 votes. His closest contestant Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML has got 1,164 votes. Sirjana Singh of the Nepali Congress has garnered 1,006 votes.
Counting is underway in wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 32 of Kathmandu.
