Two persons accused of Rs 3.5 million robbery nabbed

Kathmandu: Police have apprehended two persons allegedly involved in robbing a person at Lainchaur of Kathmandu.

A police squad mobilized from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Lainchaur arrested 25-year-old Pemba Tamang of Nuwakot and currently residing in Budhanilkantha and 34-year-old Shalik Ram Nepali of Dang presently residing in Maligaon of Kathmandu.

Tamang and Nepali had robbed a 40-year-old man of Rs 3.5 million from an eatery near a badminton court at Lainchaur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26.

Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, Superintendent Dinesh Raj Mainali said they were arrested for their involvement in robbing a person after calling him to the eatery and luring him.

Police confiscated a mobile phone, one watch, and an iron rod from the accused.

Police have taken remand of five days from the Kathmandu District Court to keep Tamang and Nepali in custody and carry out further investigation on the charge of robbery and theft.

Spokesperson Mainali said the identity of others involved in the looting incident and now absconding has been established and initiatives are underway to arrest them as well at the earliest.
