Five arrested on charge of organ trafficking of street children

Kathmandu: Police have arrested 5 persons on the charge of organ trafficking of street children.

A team of police from the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau made public the five persons on Sunday organizing a press meet in Kathmandu.

Those arrested have been identified as Dhan Bahadur Roka from Ramechhap, Bijaya Kunwar from Gulmi, Dhupendra Shahi and Bimal Bahadur Shahi from Dailekh, and Ashish Tamang from Jhapa.

According to police, the arrested had lured children to sell their kidneys. They [arrested] had promised street children to provide Rs 500,000 for each kidney.

Police say the arrested will be punished as per the Human Trafficking and Transport Control Act  (2007).
