Kathmandu: Private sector is one of the major stakeholders of sustainable development goals. The private sector plays a vital role in creating job opportunities in Nepal thereby promoting the economic growth of the country.

Achieving the SDGs sans the active involvement of private sector is a daunting task for the countries like Nepal.

Realizing this, private sector has teamed up with the UN Global Compact (UNGC) initiative — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

In this regard, Nepal Live Today had an interaction with President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Shekhar Golchaa.

Talking about the role of private sector in realizing the sustainable development goals, Golchha said that the government had to take the private sector in confidence and should work together in more organized way.

He also highlighted the need of the focused approach to achieve the goals in the stipulated time.
