Kathmandu: A large number of people are leaving Kathmandu Valley ahead of a prohibitory order that will come into effect from coming Thursday.
A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur on Monday had decided to shut down everything except essential services.
With the decision of the administration, the public vehicles heading to their destinations in the districts are crowded. Public health experts worry people overcrowding public vehicles would increase risk of coronavirus transmission.
According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, about 150,000 people left Kathmandu Valley from the eastern and western checkpoints in the past three days.
A large number of people left on Wednesday morning, the division said.
