Nepal registers record-high 7,660 new Covid-19 cases; 55 deaths reported

Kathmandu: The country recorded 7,660 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, this number of Covid-19 cases was confirmed in course of conducting 16,131 RT-PCR tests and 571 antigen tests.

A total of 7,587 people tested positive for coronavirus while carrying out PCR tests and 73 people in course of carrying out antigen tests.

Out of new cases, a total of 3,893 are from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,779 are in Kathmandu district, 513 in Bhaktapur, and 601 in Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, 55 people succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the total death toll due to Covid-19 reached 3,417 in Nepal.

Similarly, 1,775 have returned home after recovery.

At present, the country has 59,798 reported active cases of Covid-19.
