Kathmandu: The Paropakar Maternity & Women’s Hospital has brought 50-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) in operation for Covid-19 infected female patients.

The maternity hospital decided to run HDU service as patients that need oxygen are unable to get beds at Teku Hospital following a surge in coronavirus cases.

Hospital’s Director Dr Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra said that 20 percent of the beds would be reserved for pregnant women.

Dr. Sagar Rajbhandari, Director of Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital, said that discussions have been held to keep patients in isolation of the maternity hospital in case of shortage of beds at Teku Hospital.
