8,659 Covid-19 cases recorded in highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across Nepal; 264 fatalities in past one week

Kathmandu: Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country.

The fresh cases were confirmed through 20,756 PCR and 616 antigen tests, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Out of new cases, a total of 3,825 are from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,849 are in Kathmandu district, 458 in Bhaktapur, and 518 in Lalitpur.

A total of 58 people died of the pandemic in the last 24 hours taking the death tally to 3,475.

Likewise, 1,993 people recovered from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. At present, the country has 66,352 reported active cases of Covid-19.

264 fatalities in past one week

Nepal recorded 264 fatalities in the past one week as coronavirus cases have continued to surge at an alarming rate.

April 29

Health authorities in Nepal recorded 4,928 new coronavirus cases and 35 fatalities in the last 24 hour.

A total of 5,727 new cases reported in the country as 33 people succumbed to the virus.
