Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday clarified that he will not attend a meeting of the Constitutional Council summoned for Sunday.

In a statement today, Deuba also urged other members to snub the meeting saying that the government has attacked the democratic practice by amending the Constitutional Council Act through an ordinance.

“I would like to make it clear that I will not attend the meeting as the leader of the main opposition party,” Deuba said.

He further urged other members not to attend the meeting.

“I urge all other members of the council not to attend the meeting as the government’s action to amend the Constitutional Council Act through an ordinance is against the spirit of the constitution and parliamentary values,” Deuba said in the statement.

He further urged other members not to attend the meeting.
