Nepal sees record-high 9,271 Covid-19 cases and 139 deaths as second wave infections continue to rage across the country

Kathmandu: Nepal on Monday recorded 9,271 fresh cases in the highest single-day spike as Covid-19 cases continue to surge across the country despite restraining orders clamped.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, samples of 17,623 people were tested through the PCR method while 788 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 93,141.

According to the ministry, 139 people had lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related death has reached 3,859.

The country recorded 7,660 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike. Out of new cases, a total of 3,893 were from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,779 were in Kathmandu district, 513 in Bhaktapur, and 601 in Lalitpur. The country had 59,798 active cases. A total of 55 people succumbed to the pandemic.

Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country. Out of new cases, a total of 3,825 were from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,849 were in Kathmandu district, 458 in Bhaktapur, and 518 in Lalitpur. There were 66,352 active cases as 58 fatalities were recorded.
