Nepal sees 8,520 fresh Covid-19 cases and 203 fatalities; active cases cross 107,000-mark

Kathmandu: A total of 8,520 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. This was revealed in a total of 21,478 tests including 20,948 RT-PCR tests and 530 antigen tests done in various laboratories around the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, during the period a total of 6,135 people have recovered. However, 203 people lost their lives.

This takes the total number of positive cases to 439,658 and fatalities to 4,669. The total recoveries have reached 327,653 with a recovery rate of 74.5 percent. Presently, 107,336 people are in isolation.

In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,369 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 2,458 cases, Lalitpur 556, and Bhaktapur 355.

Active cases continue to rise

On May 5, the country had 66,352 active cases which have now increased to 107,336 as of May 14.

Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country. Out of new cases, a total of 3,825 were from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,849 were in Kathmandu district, 458 in Bhaktapur, and 518 in Lalitpur. There were 66,352 active cases.

Nepal recorded 8,850 fresh coronavirus cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 8,777 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 73 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Active cases stood at 88,160.

Nepal recorded 9,271 fresh cases in the highest single-day spike as Covid-19 cases. The active cases of coronavirus across the country reached 93,141.

Nepal recorded 9,483 cases of Covid-19 from 20,596 RT-PCR tests and 720 antigen tests. The country had 97,008 active cases.
