Kathmandu: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded action against Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha for violating the election code of conduct.

The NC Parliamentary Party has demanded action against Prime Minister Oli and Minister Shrestha for violating the election code of conduct by soliciting votes in favor of their candidate during the silence period before voting for a National Assembly member in Bagmati Province on Thursday.

“It is the common duty of all to abide by the election code of conduct and it is the responsibility of the government to hold free, fair, and dignified elections. It is against the basic principle of election for the government head to solicit vote during the silence period,” reads the letter to the Election Commission.
