Covid-19: Nepal witnesses 8,980 fresh cases and 129 deaths; Kathmandu Valley records 50,894 cases in 15 days

Kathmandu: Nepal on Saturday recorded 8,980 fresh coronavirus and 129 deaths in the last 24 hours, the country’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.

According to the Ministry of Health, 8,591 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 389 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 19,357 people were tested through the PCR method while 748 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 115,806. The country has so far recorded a total number of 505,643 coronavirus cases.

According to the ministry, 129 people had lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related death has reached 6,153. Meanwhile, 8,848 got recovered during the period.

Likewise, Kathmandu Valley recorded 2, 318 coronavirus infection-related cases as Kathmandu saw 1,811 cases, Lalitpur 328 and Bhaktapur 179 cases in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley records 50,894 cases in 15 days

Major parts of the country including the federal capital Kathmandu are under prohibitory order to curb the spread of the virus. But Kathmandu recorded 50,894 cases in 15 days.

May 7

The country recorded an additional 9,196 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike, taking the caseload to a total of 377,603. A total of 50 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 4,106 fresh cases.

May 8

Nepal recorded 8,418 cases of Covid-19, including 8,297 from RT-PCR tests and 131 from antigen tests. A total of 53 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley saw 3,113 fresh Covid-19 cases.

May 9

Nepal recorded 8,850 fresh coronavirus cases. Active cases have crossed the 88,000-mark. According to the ministry, 88 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,198 fresh covid-19 cases recorded in Kathmandu Valley.

May 10

Nepal recorded 9,271 fresh cases in the highest single-day spike as Covid-19 cases. A total of 139 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu valley sees 3,607 fresh cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

May 11

Nepal recorded 9,483 cases of Covid-19 from 20,596 RT-PCR tests and 720 antigen tests. A total of 225 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley witnessed 3,927 fresh Covid-19 cases

May 12

The country recorded an additional 9,305 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours in yet another record daily spike. A total of 168 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,924 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 3,250 cases, Lalitpur 448, and Bhaktapur 226.

A total of 8,960 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. There are 3,562 new cases in the Valley.

Nepal recorded 8,520 new coronavirus cases in last 24 hours as Kathmandu Valley witnessed 3,369 fresh Covid-19 cases.

May 16

Nepal registered 8,167 new coronavirus cases. Kathmandu Valley saw 2,937 fresh cases.
