Kathmandu: Ujwal Thapa, Founder of Bibeksheel Campaign and Former Chair of Bibeksheel Sajha Party, is on ventilator support in Medicity Hospital as his health is critical due to the covid-19. Thapa, who was diagnosed covid positive two weeks ago, was put on a ventilator on Friday.
Bhusan Kumar Shrestha, a leader of Bibeksheel Sajha Party said, “Thapa’s condition is still very critical; he is struggling for his life”.
A picture of Thapa lying on the hospital bed has saddened a large number of netizens as he was an inspiration for many aspiring politicians. People are praying for his health on social media platforms.
Sachin Timalsena, National Coordinator at Youth Congress Nepal, tweets, “Disheartened to know that Ujwal Thapa dai has been shifted to ventilator in Medicity. Have always admired your intentions dai and your courage to fight back the status quo. We met a number of times on streets and loved your calmness. I wish you a speedy recovery Dai!”
Similarly, Pratibha Dangol in Facebook writes, “One of the most beautiful souls I have met in my life, Ujwal Thapa, is fighting corona in critical condition . He needs our prayers. Please ! pray for him !”.
Like Timalsena and Dangol, there are thousands of others praying for the recovery of Thapa. With that, those well-wishers are also actively involved in collecting funds for Thapa. To show solidarity, many users on Facebook have kept Thapa’s photo as their profile picture.
A gofundme link is created by Thapa”s friends to aid his treatment financially
Thapa’s family has informed about the amount received from gofundme by issuing a statement on Saturday. As per the statement, the account received USD 22,291 and similarly, Rs. 2,650,000 has been deposited in the bank account of Nepal.
