American climber’s dead body airlifted to Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The dead body of an American climber who had perished in Mt Everest on May 12 has been brought to Kathmandu.

The dead body of 54-year-old Puwei Liu was airlifted to Teaching Hospital at Maharajgunj in Kathmandu where a post mortem examination will be conducted on the dead body. The American climber had fallen to death in Camp IV (above 7,900 m) in the 8,848.86 meters mountain while he was descending upon his successful summit, according to Information Officer Rishiraj Dhakal at the District Police Office, Solukhumbu. The dead body was airlifted from Lukla to Kathmandu as the weather conditions improved, said Dhakal.

Three fatalities have been recorded in Everest this spring season so far.
