“Save Nepal From Covid-19” alliance sends 100 oxygen concentrators to Nepal

Kathmandu: A global alliance of professional and social organizations, individuals, celebrities and influencers in Nepal and abroad have joined hands and started the “Save Nepal from Covid-19” alliance to help Nepal battle the second wave of the deadly pandemic.

A total of 100 oxygen concentrators procured by the alliance have reached Nepal to fight the pandemic, said Pukar Bam, national coordinator of the alliance. 

The global alliance has already collected USD 60,000 through “Save Nepal Global Fund”, which will be utilized to procure health equipment to help fight Covid-19 pandemic, added Bam.

“The alliance is raising funds all over the world to send essential items/equipment and much needed help to the most affected parts of Nepal and support the relief/rescue mission of our many partner organizations in Nepal,” said Dr Pragati Ghimire, international coordinator of the alliance.

The celebrities and influencers involved in this alliance are former Nepal National Cricket Team captain Paras Khadka, Actress Manisha Koirala, Actor and director Nischal Basnet, BBC’s one of the 100 most influential women Sapana Roka Magar, Miss Nepal 2020 Namrata Shrestha, Miss Nepal 2003 Priti Sitoula Rajbanshi, Miss Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Miss Nepal World 2011 Malina Joshi, Captain Vijay Lama, and the host of popular podcast “TheDeepeshShow” Deepesh Shrestha. 

“These organizations, individuals and celebrities have been involved in pandemic relief work in Nepal since last year at individual or organizational level. Now this broader alliance has been formed and is mostly focused on timeliness, accountability, transparency, grassroots needs assessments and effective delivery. Our core members are professionals and respected people from the community from all around the globe, specifically from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, and Nepal,” said Bam.

“We are working with the Nepal Police to dispatch the health equipment to areas where they are most needed to save lives,” added Bam. 

The partner organizations in this global alliance are Institute for Nepal, Hamro Sano Prayas Nepal, Pulmonary Hypertension Association Nepal, Texas Nepalese Medical Association (TNMA), The White Zone, American Society of Nepalese Engineers, Nepali American Community Center( NACC), Neeko, Prahlad and Bindu Pant Foundation, New England Federation of Indian Associations, Nyanopan, Nepal Tea Foundation, Yeti Airlines, Summit Air, Rotary Club of Kathmandu, Kalanki, Yogadaan Foundation, Nepalese Association of Florida and Association of Nepalis in the Americas (ANA).
