Civil society leaders arrested from Baluwatar

Kathmandu: Police have arrested civil society leaders protesting saying that Medical Education Commission is granting affiliation to B&C Medical College.

They were arrested while demonstrating near Baluwatar in Kathmandu on Friday. Civil society leaders including Khagendra Sangroula and Narayan Wagle have been arrested.

They staged the protest after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli convened a meeting of the Medical Education Commission in Baluwatar on Friday to decide on affiliation to the medical college.

Civil society leaders protested saying that the government is displaying anti-people and reactionary characters even on serious issues like public health.
