Nepal ranks third-largest troops contributor to UN peacekeeping mission

Kathmandu: Nepal has been ranked third in the largest number of peacekeepers deployed in different countries under the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

Nepal Army (NA) Spokesperson Brigadier General Santosh Ballav Poudel said that Nepal is now the third-largest troops contributing country with a contribution of 5,686 troops. Earlier, Nepal was ranked fourth.

Nepal has been contributing to the UN peacekeeping missions for the past 64 years.

Meanwhile, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal Sara Beysolow Nyanti recalled the Nepali contingent in her community in Brewerville, Liberia.

“Salute to the brave Nepali Peacekeepers who kept me, my family as well as so many families around the Earth very safe,” she said in a tweet.
