Covid-19 Nepal: Positivity rate hovers around 20 percent in last 10 days

Kathmandu: The country has witnessed a total of 2,169 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 1,353 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 816 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 6,530 people were tested through the PCR method while 3,887 samples were tested adopting the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 20.82 percent.

Likewise, altogether 1,432 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 94.5 percent.

According to the Ministry, 22 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,362. Nepal currently has 26,489 active cases.

The average Covid-19 positivity rate in Nepal in the last 10 days is 21.47 percent. The positivity rate was 25.13 percent on July 1, 21.69 percent on July 2, 22.97 percent on July 3, 19.71 percent on July 4, 22.74 percent on July 5, 20.92 percent on July 6, 25.03 percent on July 7, 17.85 percent on July 8, 17.85 on July 9 and 20.82 percent on July 10.
