Public transport fare hiked by 28 percent

Kathmandu: The government has increased inter-province public transport fares.

Issuing a notice, the Department of Transport Management said that the fare of long-distance passenger vehicles has been increased by 28 percent.

Likewise, the fare of freight vehicles operating on hilly roads has been increased by 20 percent and those operating in Terai has been hiked by 26 percent.

The fares were increased as per a ministerial-level decision on Sunday and have come into effect from Tuesday, according to the notice.
