Kathmandu: The transport entrepreneurs have launched a protest today, demanding the adjustment of the transport fare. The entrepreneurs have staged protests in different parts along the Ring Road in Kathmandu Valley as part of their protest plan.

They have further demanded to manage vaccines to drivers and helpers of long and short route vehicles as well. They appealed to the federal government to address their genuine demands. Recently, the Department of Transport Management has allowed transport entrepreneurs to hike bus fares on inter-provincial routes by 28 percent.

Similarly, cargo carriers serving routes in the Terai and hills were permitted to hike transport fares by 26 and 20 percent, respectively.

The protesters have demanded to adjust fare following the market and price hike of petroleum products and vehicle spare parts. They have stated that it was adjusted nine years back and it’s too late to adjust the fare at present.
