2,977 new cases and 18 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours; Covid-19 positivity rate at 17 percent

Kathmandu: The country has witnessed a total of 2,977 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 1,982 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 995 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 13,698 people were tested through the PCR method while 3,610 samples were tested adopting the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 17.20 percent.

Likewise, 1,678 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period.

According to the Ministry, 18 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,679.

Nepal currently has 27,661 active cases. Nepal’s Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 94.5 percent and case fatality at 1.5 percent.
