Kathmandu: The Election Commission has granted the authenticity of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSPN) to Upendra Yadav faction of the party. The Election Commission decided to grant the authenticity to the Yadav faction on Monday following a headcount of executive committee members.

The Election Commission also ordered the Mahanta Thakur faction to register a separate party.

A total of 34 out of 51 executive committee members had signed in favor of Yadav. Similarly, 16 members had signed in favor of another Chairman Mahanta Thakur while one (Resham Chaudhary) remained neutral.

The row over authenticity had reached the Election Commission after both factions, claiming themselves to be authentic, took action against leaders of the rival factions.

Talking to Nepal Live Today, JSPN leader of Yadav faction Mahendra Raya Yadav said that all leaders who voted in favor of Mahanta Thakur during the headcount are no longer associated with the party.

Meanwhile, talking to media persons in brief at the EC premises Chair Upendra Yadav said the party would soon be joining the government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
