Nepal witnessing steady increase in daily Covid-19 cases; 3,899 new cases registered in the last 24 hours

Kathmandu: Nepal has seen a steady increase in daily Covid-19 cases for the fast few days.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday said it recorded a total of 3,899 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. Nepal had registered 3,421 new cases on Monday and 2,237 cases on Sunday.

A total of 2,726 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 1,173 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method in the last 24 hours.

A total of 17,518 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 12,655 samples were tested through the PCR method while 4,863 samples were through the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 22.25 percent.

This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 685,673 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 57,114 through antigen tests.

Likewise, altogether 1,778 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 94.4 percent.

According to the Ministry, 20 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,758. Nepal currently has 28,836 active cases.
