Nepal records 3,383 new Covid-19 cases and 24 fatalities in the last 24 hours; active cases cross 32,000-mark

Kathmandu: Nepal on Tuesday recorded 3,383 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Active cases have crossed 32,000-mark following a steady increase in new cases for the past few days.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 2,448 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 935 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 10,638 people were tested through the PCR method while 6,080 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 32,059. Out of them, 29,022 are in home isolation and 3,037 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 686 are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 162 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 371 are currently quarantined.

A total of 1,994 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added.

According to the Ministry, 24 people had lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related death has reached 9,922.

Active coronavirus cases have been increasing with a steady increase in new cases for the past few days. Nepal on July 28 had 29,944 active cases which increased to 32,059 on August 3.
