Covid-19: Nepal records 3,938 new cases and 37 deaths; recovery rate decreases to 93.7 percent

Kathmandu: Nepal on Thursday recorded 3,938 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Active cases have crossed 34,000-mark following a steady increase in new cases for the past few days.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 3,007 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 931 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 11,870 people were tested through the PCR method while 6,538 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

With this, the number of active cases of coronavirus across the country has reached 34,422. Out of them, 31,108 are in home isolation and 3,314 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 713 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 158 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 375 are currently quarantined.

A total of 2,012 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added. The recovery rate has now decreased to 93.7 percent.

According to the Ministry, 37 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related deaths have reached 9,994.
