Covid-19: Nepal witnesses 3,915 new cases and 27 deaths; positivity rate at 21 percent

Kathmandu: A total of 3,915 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours in the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were identified from 11,708 RT-PCR and 6,874 antigen tests.

With the new cases, the Covid-19 tally has reached 728,532 (in PCR tests) and 74,034 (in antigen tests) in the country as of Friday. The positivity rate stood at 21.06 percent.

Similarly, the Ministry confirmed that 2,118 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recovered patients has reached 679,495 so far. The recovery rate stands at 93.3 percent.

According to the Ministry, a total of 27 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours across the country. The Ministry stated that the total number of deaths from coronavirus infection has reached 10,239.

The Ministry has further shared that there are 38,798 active cases of coronavirus across the country. Out of them, 35,518 are in home isolation and 3,280 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 736 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 186 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 439 are currently quarantined.

Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people reaches 3,223,693 while 4,659,414 have received the first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus infection, the Ministry said.
