Covid-19: 3,042 new cases and 26 deaths reported in the last 24 hours

Kathmandu: A total of 3,042 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The new cases were confirmed in 17,654 sample tests through RT-PCR and antigen method held in various laboratories across the country. This takes the Covid-19 caseload in the country to 744,307 till date, with another 79,340 confirmed through antigen tests.

Similarly, 2,244 people recovered from the coronavirus infection during the same period, taking the total recovery number to 693,543 as of now, the Ministry said.

The number of active cases currently stands at 40,309. Among them, 36,922 are receiving treatment in home isolation while 3,387 are treated in institutional isolation. Altogether 714 Covid-19 patients are in ICU while 171 are with ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 26 people died of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. So far 10,455 people have succumbed to coronavirus infection.
