Nepal defeats Papua New Guinea by two wickets

Kathmandu: Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea by two wickets in the first ODI match held on Tuesday. Chasing down a 134-run target set by Papua New Guinea, Nepal went past the target in 39.3 overs losing eight wickets at the match held in Oman.

Rohit Paudel made 40 runs for Nepal off 65 balls as Aasif Sheikh and Sompal Kami contributed 30 and 22 runs respectively.

Gaudi Toka took the highest three wickets for Papua New Guinea. Likewise, Damien Ravu and Chad Soper send two Nepali batsmen each back to the pavilion.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Papua New Guinea made 134 runs losing all wickets in 33 overs.

Lega Siaka top-scored for Papua New Guinea at 30 runs off 38 balls as Charles Amini and Gaudi Toka made 23 and 22 runs respectively.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took four wickets giving away 35 runs. Likewise, Bikram Sob and Kushal Malla grabbed two wickets each.
