Covid-19: Nepal witnesses 1,271 new cases and 14 deaths; positivity rate drops to 11 percent

Kathmandu: A total of 1,271 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours in the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were identified from 8,898 RT-PCR and 3,046 antigen tests.

With the new cases, the Covid-19 tally has reached 774,587 (in PCR tests) and 86,219 (in antigen tests) in the country as of Thursday. The positivity rate stood at 10.64 percent.

Similarly, the Ministry confirmed that 1,845 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recovered patients has reached 735,006 so far. The recovery rate stands at 94.9 percent.

According to the Ministry, a total of 14 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours across the country. The Ministry stated that the total number of deaths from coronavirus infection has reached 10,903.

The Ministry has further shared that there are 28,678 active cases of coronavirus across the country. Out of them, 26,886 are in home isolation and 1,792 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 458 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 139 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 261 are currently quarantined.
