NSJF marks 26th Anniversary

Kathmandu: Nepal Sports Journalists’ Forum (NSFJ), an umbrella organization of Nepali sports journalists, marked its 26th anniversary on Sunday.

Marking the occasion, the forum honored veteran journalist Mukunda Dahal and Govinda Raj Nepal with the Suman Bomjan Memorial Youth Sports Journalism Award. The award is presented annually to promising youth sports reporters and recognized senior journalists.

Bomjan, a sports reporter at Gorkhapatra since 2011 and a member of the NSJF, had lost his life during the April 2015 earthquake.

Dahal received Rs 25,000 along with an appreciation letter whereas Nepal received a laptop and a letter of appreciation.

“NSJF has contributed remarkably to the growth and development of the sports sector,” said All Nepal Football Association President Karma Tshering Sherpa. ANFA is ready to collaborate in any kind of program that would enhance the skills of sports journalists, he added.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal, Nepal Olympic Committee president Jeevan Ram Shrestha, and Federation of Nepali Journalists General Secretary Roshan Puri, among others attended the event.
