Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has sought an original copy of the file pertaining to the party disassociation after hearing the writ petition regarding the dismissal of 14 lawmakers recommended by the CPN-UML.

A division bench comprising SC judges Deepak Kumar Karki and Dr Kumar Chudal today issued an order asking for the file from the Election Commission to discuss whether or not an interim order needs to be issued on the writ. The bench decided to demand the file regarding the EC August 25 decision in regard to the disassociation from the party.

Similarly, the court has asked to provide the August 29 original file in regard to the case relating to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and the original file about the letter dispatched on August 20 by the Lumbini Province Speaker.
It may be noted that UML Chair KP Sharma Oli had moved the SC against the EC for its endorsement to form a new party verifying the signatures of 14 lawmakers who faced action from the party.

Likewise, Oli has accused HoR Speaker Sapkota of not relieving 14 lawmakers from their positions despite being informed of the same by the party. The petition has named 14 lawmakers, the HoR Speaker, EC and the Lumbini Province Assembly Speaker as the defendants.
