Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has not attended an all-party meeting summoned by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in an effort to end the parliamentary deadlock.
A top leader said that the party did not attend the meeting as leaders from CPN (Unified Socialist), a breakaway faction of the party, will also be present at the meeting.
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Deuba, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, from Nepali Congress, Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and leader Narayankaji Shrestha from CPN (Maoist Center), General-Secretary Beduram Bhusal and leader Rajendra Pandey from and CPN (Unified Socialist), Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato from Democratic Socialist Party, Rajendra Shrestha from Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Prem Suwal from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Durga Poudel from Rastriya Janamorcha, among others are attending the meeting, shared Personal Secretary of PM’s Parliamentary Party, Keshav Raj Joshi.
Matters related to contemporary political affairs including ending the impasse in the operation of parliament would be discussed in the meeting.
It may be noted that the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has been obstructing the parliamentary meeting since the beginning of the current House session. The party had earlier boycotted a similar meeting called by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota intended to end the House obstruction.
