Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has annulled a contempt of court case filed after four former Chief Justices.

Delivering a final verdict on the case, a joint bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Friday gave a clean chit to four ex-Chief Justices—Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anupraj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha, and Sushila Karki.

A writ petition was filed at the apex court against them accusing them of contempt of court for issuing a statement denouncing House dissolution while a case against the dissolution was sub-judice at the apex court.

After a debate on the petition filed by advocates Lochan Bhattarai and Dhanjit Basnet, the bench of CJ Rana and Justice Sapna Pradhan Malla ruled that the claim for contempt of court was not sufficient.
