Post-monsoon rainfall wreaks havoc across Nepal, renders 31 dead, 43 missing

Kathmandu: At least 31 people have lost their lives due to landslides and floods triggered by post-monsoon rain in Nepal. Forty-three people are still missing across the country, according to the Home Ministry.

According to the ministry, seven people were killed in Ilam, six in Panchthar, seven in Doti, six in Dhankuta, two in Sunsari, and one each in Kalikot and Dadeldhura districts.

Similarly, 43 people in different districts have gone missing, including six in Humla, 23 in Bajhang and four in Kailali, said Humkala Pandey, joint secretary at the Home Ministry.

A total of 700 people have been rescued so far. At least 19 districts have been affected due to landslides, floods and inundation, the ministry said. RSS
