Young Entrepreneurs’ Summit calls for promoting women entrepreneurship

Birgunj: Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (NYEF) Birgunj in coordination with Ladies Circle Nepal held a Young Entrepreneurs’ Summit–Women (YESW) on Friday. Province 2 Minister for Energy and Drinking Water Om Prakash Sharma inaugurated the summit, organized for the first time outside of Kathmandu Valley.

Addressing the program, Minister Sharma said that the economic imagination of the country is not possible without the economic empowerment of women. Though the issue of economic empowerment of women has come forward, Sharma claimed, women have not gotten equal opportunity regarding their participation in economic activities.

Participants in the Birgunj summit stressed the need for adequate participation of women in business and enterprises.

Minister Sharma pointed out the need for policy-level reforms and proper planning to bring young women into entrepreneurship. “The Province 2 government is committed to promoting women entrepreneurship and coordination between government and entrepreneurs is vital for this,” he added.

President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Birgunj, Subodh Kumar Gupta said the organization is working to promote women entrepreneurship emphasizing adequate participation of women in business and enterprise.

NYEF Central President Udeep Shrestha said NYEF has made efforts to take youths forward in entrepreneurship. “The involvement of young women in enterprise and business has not been as expected,” NYEF Women Entrepreneur President Sahara Joshi said. She stressed the need for women’s leadership in enterprises.

Similarly, NYEF Birgunj President Anup Agrawal said the summit will help motivate women entrepreneurs. “The summit will be helpful in women entrepreneurship development and solving the problems they are facing,” he added. 

More than 100 women entrepreneurs participated in the summit.
