Danish climber dies at Makalu Base Camp

Kathmandu: A Danish national has died at the Makalu Base Camp in Makalu Rural Municipality-2 in Sankhuwasabha, an eastern district of Nepal, on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Henrik Thorbjorn Anderson.

According to Subesh Adhikari, information officer at the Sankhuwasabha District Police Office, the Danish national died some meters above the base camp.

An expedition team of 10 climbers including three foreigners had moved towards the Makalu Base Camp via Taplejung district.

Meanwhile, two foreigners and a Nepali tourist have been rescued safely after they were affected badly in the blizzard. Both of them are Danish nationals.

Likewise, six Nepalis are still trapped at the base camp.
