Kathmandu: The Nepal Bar Association has given an ultimatum till Wednesday for Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana to resign. A meeting of the umbrella organization of Nepali lawyers held on Friday decided to stage a nationwide protest if the Chief Justice fails to resign with the deadline.

As per the protest plan, advocates will wear black bands and boycott the bench of the Chief Justice. Similarly, it has been decided to demand Chief Justice Rana not to hear cases, said Nepal Bar Association General Secretary Lilamani Poudel.

Poudel also said that additional agitation programs would be made public after Tihar if the Chief Justice did not put in papers.

Justices at the apex court have been boycotting hearings since Monday seeking the Chief Justice’s resignation.
