Kathmandu: Lonely Planet, a major Australian travel guide book publisher, has included Nepal in the list of its 10 countries to visit in 2022. Nepal has been ranked eighth in the Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022 book’s list.

It’s nearly impossible to discuss Nepal without talking about Mount Everest. But this Himalayan nation has so much more on offer for travelers who aren’t climbing the world’s highest mountain, according to Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022 book.

In the remote region of Mustang (which means “fertile plain”), trekkers can explore the high desert and meet locals at homestays along the way, dining on Nepali specialties like coffee with yak butter and momos served “kothey” style — half fried and half steamed, it added in a sneak preview.

Other countries in the list are The Cook Islands, Norway, Mauritius, Belize, Slovenia, Anguilla, Oman, Malawi and Egypt.

The tourism sector hard hit by the pandemic is slowly showing the sign of revival. The government has already issued permits to 510 climbers for the winter ascent. Last month, the government, after four months, resumed on-arrival visas.
