China hands over 1.6 million Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal

Kathmandu: A total of 1.6 million Covid-19 vaccines donated by China have arrived on Wednesday.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi handed over the vaccines to Minister for Health Birodh Khatiwada at the Ministry of Health and Population today.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health Khatiwada expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for providing vaccines to help Nepal achieve its target of inoculating all Nepalis within the current fiscal year.

China had announced providing additional 1.6 million Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal as a grant after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba took charge of the government. So far, the Chinese government has provided 3.4 million doses of vaccine to Nepal on a grant.

According to Health Minister Khatiwada, Nepal has already purchased 10 million vaccines from China.
