Kathmandu: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Wednesday has assigned nine benches at the Supreme Court excluding himself. All the benches will hear habeas corpus cases only.
Justices at the apex court had been boycotting hearings for eight days seeking the Chief Justice’s resignation. Justices protesting against the Chief Justice have decided to further strengthen the protest after Tihar. A meeting of the agitating Justices held on Tuesday decided to hear habeas corpus cases only until Tihar and launch a stern protest after the festival.
It should be noted that the Nepal Bar Association has given an ultimatum till Wednesday for Chief Justice Rana to resign.
