CoAS Sharma conferred honorary rank of Indian Army General

Kathmandu: Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army to Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of Nepal Army Prabhu Ram Sharma.

CoAS Sharma was conferred the insignia amidst a special ceremony organized at the Rastrapati Bhawan in New Delhi, India. On the occasion, General Sharma was presented with a sword, insignia and a certificate of conferment order by the President during the ceremony, according to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

There is a tradition of the exchange of honorary titles between the army chiefs of Nepal and India.

General Sharma set out for New Delhi on Tuesday for a four-day visit at the invitation of the Indian Army Chief General MS Naravane. CoAS Sharma is scheduled to hold a meeting with high-ranking Indian officials during his visit.

Sharma is returning home on November 12.
